Event - Academy Opening Day

3 October 2016

Monday 3rd October 2016 was a big day in the history of our school, as that was the first school day that we opened as an academy, along with a growing number of other schools as part of the Bishop Anthony Educational Trust.

The BAET is a Multi Academy Trust that has been set up by the Diocese of Hereford (The Church of England), to provide a home for schools in the light of the massive cuts that have been imposed on Local Authorities.

Our school was visited by Mrs Judith Tinsley, the CEO of the Trust, along with other Board members to commemorate the historic event. The children were told all about what was happening and the background of what the Trust stood for. We then invited the oldest and the youngest pupils in the school to help cut the ribbon as effectively, a new school was opened.

This was the end of a long consultation and implementation process with all stakeholders being consulted and a lot of work going on in the background. The Governors of St. Michael’s were particularly keen to ensure that the church school ethos that means so much to us was maintained and strengthened, and so the BAET was, for us, the obvious choice.

We all listened carefully to what was being explained about the BAET.
