Event - Go Toads!

15 March 2016

We have been very fortunate to have the opportunity of working closely with Hereford Wildlife Trust in their recent community based project ‘Go Toads’ centred around Bodenham Lake and aimed at protecting the local population of toads.

After an introductory assembly the children were invited to enter a competition to design a road sign to remind motorists that toads may be crossing. This was a very popular event with entries of a very high standard. The winning design was created by one of our Year 6 pupils, and we are all very excited about seeing the finished sign in place!

On Tuesday 15th March each class participated in a series of very informative and hands on workshops, focussed around ‘The Toads Journey’ arranged and expertly led by staff members from the Wildlife Trust.

Our award winning pupil and Hayley Herridge with the winning road sign design.
Class 1 and 2 used their muscles to dig out the base for a protective shelter for the toads.

Hayley helped us to mime the different stages of a toad’s life cycle.
