Event - Year 6's London Trip

20 to 22 May 2013

To give our oldest children an experience of a completely different environment to the one that they know, each year we take our Year 6 children to London for a few days.

It is a way of broadening their understanding of the world, giving them a truly memorable experience before they finish Primary education and allowing them the opportunity to spend time away from home with their friends from school.

We stay at Rotherhithe Youth Hostel and visit all of the major tourist sites, as well as (this year) the Natural History Museum and HMS Belfast. We even managed to get to see 'Wicked' at the Apollo Theatre.

The children returned very tired but full of special memories and tales to tell!

The excited party, just before we set off at 7.15am on the Monday.

Meeting Mr Darwin at the Natural History Museum, just after we arrived.

The 'Investigate' session at the Natural History Museum – very exciting!

On the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral, before we went in.

Our tour around the more Royal parts of the city.

Changing of the guard.

'Chatting' with the guardsman.

On the London Eye!

At the Tower of London, after viewing the Crown Jewels.

Enjoying their lunch on HMS Belfast.

A final picture with Ron our friendly, faithful driver on the last lap of our journey home.
