SCHOOL ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS 2026-2027
CONSULTATION NOTICE
Proposed Changes to School Admission Arrangements for
St Michael’s CE Primary School
In accordance with the DfE’s statutory ‘School Admissions Code’ guidance, admission authorities must consult on admission arrangements when changes are proposed, and at least once every seven years even if no changes are proposed.
The Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust and the local governors at St Michael’s CE Primary School are proposing the following change to its oversubscription criteria within its admission arrangements to include:
2. Children of staff(ix) in either or both of the following circumstances:
a. Where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time for which the application for admission is made
b. The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
(ix) Children of staff: criterion 2 applies to all staff, who work on site at the school; it does not apply to sub-contracted staff (e.g.: catering/cleaning/maintenance, supply teachers).
The highest priority is given to children in public care and those with an Education, Health and Care Plan which names St Michael’s CE Primary School are automatically admitted, as required by the Schools Admission Code.
The consultation is open to any person(s) or body who may have a reasonable interest in the admission arrangements at the school. The consultation must be for a minimum of 6 weeks between 1st October and 31 January in the determination year.
The consultation period will commence on Monday 4th November 2024 until Friday 20th December 2024.
Any comments on the consultation should be submitted in writing no later than 20th December 2024 to: admin@st-michaels.hereford.sch.uk
A review of all comments received will be carried out to determine the outcome of the consultation. The final admission arrangements will be determined by 28th February 2025.
