Forest School
At St Michael’s CE Primary School, our Forest School vision is inspired by the Parable of the Mustard Seed. A story that reminds us that even the smallest seed, when nurtured with patience and care, can grow into something beautiful, strong and inspiring.
In the same way, we believe that every child carries within them the potential to flourish. Through our Forest School, we create the time, space and encouragement for each pupil to grow in curiosity, confidence, faith and resilience.
Our forest school environment provides rich opportunities for exploration, discovery and reflection. Just as the mustard seed grows deep roots and branches that offer shelter to others, our children learn to develop strong foundations and a sense of care for the world around them.
Through hands-on experiences in nature, we aim to:
- Nurture spiritual growth, recognising God’s presence and creation in the natural world.
- Encourage resilience and perseverance, helping children understand that growth takes time and care.
- Build community and compassion, where every child feels valued and supported as part of something greater.
- Inspire environmental stewardship, teaching respect and responsibility for God’s creation.
Our Forest School is therefore a place of faith in action, where small steps, thoughtful reflection, and shared experiences help every child to “grow and learn together,” just as the mustard seed becomes a tree that gives life to many.
